It's funny you know how sometimes it's like companies can read your mind isn't it? Come on. you know what I mean. You're busy minding your own business and suddenly you think "you know what would be a really good idea..." and then bam!!! Next thing you know there's an advert selling you that exact product on TV. I've often wondered how many people must have thought sliced bread was a good idea before somebody actually did it. Well I had a sort of similar thing recently actually. As you all know I've become a bit smitten of late with all things Heavy Gear Blitz, and it seems a few of you have as well, and you've brought starter sets and all sorts of other goodies. Again I'm sorry about the impact this has had on your bank balance... but I digress.
I received an email from one of my lovey readers who asked me "what do you do for scenery"... well... erm... I actually don't have any 12/15mm scale scenery, and I may just be using appropriately sized cardboard boxes at the moment. For shame, for shame! I know, it's terrible isn't it, and it probably makes me a very bad person and I'm sure it makes me a very bad example. I have to be brutally honest and say it is really unsatisfactory to find myself in such a horrible predicament, normally I like my games to be played on appropriately styled gaming boards. I had to acknowledge my guilt and admit my shame to this reader as well, and I promised I'd look into it for him, and maybe even look to finally get my arse in gear and make some scenery myself and produce some articles about it.
|Swanky looking... now where's the outside swimming pool?|
Then guess what? An email lands in my inbox informing me of Dream Pod 9's release schedule... and hang on a minute... is that a bundle of resin scenery? Bingo! Problem solved. I swear it's like sometimes they read our minds. For some no doubt the Badlands Outpost Set will be a Godsend. I have to admit I'm just a little bit tempted myself. So what do you get in the box? Well the picture above shows you what you get, but in list form it's this:
- x1 Badlands Outpost
- x1 Badlands Housing Module
- x1 Badlands Tower
- x1 Solar Panel
- x1 Water Condenser
- x2 Water Tanks
So how much does it cost? Well it's $99.95CAN and $99.09US, for those of you who purchase your products in the worlds most endangered currency it is €80.96 and in real money it is £63. You notice how the British pound is worth more than all those other currencies? That's real money that is! So if you have just brought yourselves a load of Heavy Gear Blitz mini's and are looking for some suitable scenery perhaps this is something worth considering. there's actually a pretty good selection of Heavy Gear Blitz themed terrain on their webstore.
|Yet more resin base options to choose from.|
There's also going to be some scenic jungle resin bases released as well, as you can see from the lovely picture. I'm a fan of the scenic base, and lately I don't think there has been a force or army for a game I haven't put on resin scenic bases, my Heavy Gear Blitz stuff though... well that's for another article. Suffice to say there are also some nice hex base options on the Dream Pod 9 webstore. Before I nip off to make myself a nice cup of Darjeeling Tea I feel it is also my civic duty to remind you all that right now Dream Pod 9 are having a Heavy Gear Summer Blitz Event, which includes online store exclusive Task Force and Armour deals. You can read about them on my Blog in this article. They all represent fantastic value for money they really do, and if you are considering taking the plunge into Heavy Gear Blitz I can heartily recommend you take a serious look at these deals. The task force deals all represent a very significant force for their respective factions, and you'll not need much beyond those deals. I'm still really tempted to get myself the PRDF deals because I want a second force with which to demo the game... honest... my intentions are purely noble and not motivated by greed at all. Peace out!
