And now for something not zombie related, Paradiso

finally.

I know not everyone will be enamoured with the prospect of a week full of zombie stuff, so here's something a bit different. Yep that's right the Infinity Campaign / Mission / new faction / it's bigger than it was meant to be book, has finally arrived. This Saturday with the Cursed we trekked down the Tabletop Nation, part of Wayland Games, to have a look at the product, and to have a look around. They were having a launch party for Campaign: Paradiso and some of the chaps from Corvus Belli were there to run some people through a campaign. We were there to take it all in, look at some of Angel's handy work and get our rulebooks signed. Sadly in a cruel twist of fate our Paradiso books were shipped out literally the day before we were due to head down to Tabletop Nation... d'oh! This meant we didn't have our books with us as they were in the post. Oh the irony. Still we were able to buy books when we were there and we can send our other books back once they arrive for a refund so it worked out well in the end. Here's some pictures from the day:

Rather large Infinity update

Yeah well I guess I only have myself to blame on this one. The past few weeks have been a bit hectic and down right difficult round here and as such I haven't exactly kept on top of things on this here blog. But boy have there been some pretty darn huge updates going on in the World of Infinity! I obviously didn't do my July Infinity update release, so those will be covered here, as well as Augusts rather exciting looking bunch of releases. However, the biggest news regarding Infinity has to simply be the release finally of the the third Infinity book, the campaigns and mission book. This has got me massively excited, because lets face it, missions and campaigns have been the missing part of the jigsaw for Infinity for almost... well... since it was released actually. The Campaign Paradiso book is a very welcome sight for Infinity players indeed, it's what we've been asking for, for years, and it's what I've had minor grumbles about on here for the last few months now. Obviously I haven't seen what it's all about and how good it is yet, but I remain optimistic that it will plug a large gap in the game system successfully and finally make Infinity a complete game system.

The other massively exciting news that came out of the announcement of the Infinity Campaign Book was the revealing of a totally new alien race and faction in the Infinity universe called the Tohaa. Rumours of a second all new alien race / faction have been murmured about for some time now. However, I'll be honest and say I didn't quite expect to see them released so soon. I thought they might have been held back until Corvus Belli were ready to give us all the full on updated 3rd Edition. I guess I was wrong. So we have been told a little bit of the fluff behind them, like the fact they're at war with the Combined Army, like the number 3 and are apparently hoping that humanity will help them out with their war against the Combined Army. Beasts of War have covered them in a bit more depth in a video found here. I however am waiting to see what is actually written about them in the campaign book itself, I'm quite a fan of the Infinity backstory, no doubt when the book is released I'll do a full breakdown on the Tohaa, and of course review the book.

Review: Micro Art Studio's Infinity Markers

The lovely Infinity MAS tokens

This is a bit of a weird review really. Mainly because although these packs are multiple products I'm doing this as a single review. This is because Micro Art Studios have, rather than lumping all the various Infinity Markers into one potentially very expensive set, actually decided to break them down into multiple sets. But, the reality is as a product one set in terms of structure and quality is very much going to be the same as any of the other sets. It's just the composition of the various counters they contain that changes, and as such this is just one big review, because not only am I lazy, but I think if I tried getting 15 reviews out of this one of you might actually fine me and kill me... I also think it'd be considered justifiable homicide if you did. So for my own safety and your sanityit's just a single review. Oh yeah and that is an Approved by Cats badge you see above... because the cats, they approve.

Product Description

Well depending on the packet you purchase it will contain either 6 or 12 acrylic disc counters. There is an odd one out packet as it were, in the shape of Infinity Special Markers II set, which only contains 11 counters as the Suppression Fire counter is the size of two normal counters and isn't round, but rectangular. Here's a list of what is in the various sets:

  • Infinity Camouflage Markers Azar: 5 Azar Camouflage tokens numbered 1 to 5 and 1 single 'Burnt' token.
  • Infinity Deployable Markers II: 3 AP Mine tokens, 3 M Mine tokens, 3 V Mine tokens and 3 Unloaded tokens.
  • Infinity Deployable Markers III: 3 Repeater tokens, 3 E/Mauler tokens, 2 IMM tokens, 2 DIS tokens, 2 POS tokens.
  • Infinity Irregular / Impetuous Markers: 6 Irregular tokens, 6 Impetuous tokens.
  • Infinity Special Markers I: 2 Green Holoecho tokens, 2 yellow Holoecho tokens, 2 Burnt tokens, 2 Hostile tokens, 2 Impersonation tokens level 1 and 2, 1 Unconscious token, 1 Porxy Active token.
  • Infinity Special Markers II: 2 Prone tokens, 2 DIS tokens, 2 Imm tokens, 1 foxhole token, 1 Link Team Leader token, 1 POS token, 1 Unloaded token.
  • Infinity total Camouflage Markers Purple: 5 Purple TO Camo tokens numbered from 1 to 5 and 1 Burnt token.
  • Infinity Wound Markers: 6 Single Wound tokens, 1 Double Wound token and 1 Triple Wound token, 4 Unconscious tokens.
  • Infinity Regular Markers: 11 Regular tokens, 1 Link Leader token.

Long and short of it is there are an awful lot of options and sets you can pick up and buy. These are just the ones I currently own, and I'd be very careful when ordering any sets to make sure you do get all the tokens you'll need for your specific force. Plus to make sure you don't end up with too many duplicate tokens.

Infinity June releases

Well this month is a bit of an odd one for me. There are two units in it that we don't have the rules for, for a start off and a Muyib option we haven't seen in the rules before. So I'm not going to be able to do any tactics for them yet, but when I know what the rules look like I'll try and dissect whether they're any good and how I'd use them. It is also yet more evidence that the new missions book can't be that far away... so where is it Corvus Belli? Some of us have been waiting for roughly 4 years for it to arrive and... I'm getting impatient now, and I really don't mind saying it. They've taken far too long to get this book out and I'm getting annoyed with them now. This has been the missing piece of the Infinity jigsaw for five years now, and for five years I've waited patiently for them to get their arses in gear. Too long Corvus Belli, far too long. While I still love the core game, until they get a proper missions book out I'll be shelving Infinity for a while... yep I'm board of the published missions and pitched battles already.

Infinity May releases

Once again we're at that time of the month, where we gawp in awe at the shiny toys Corvus Belli are planning on selling us for the best looking wargame on the market, Infinity. This month has some pretty sweet looking mini's, nothing unusual there then! However, I'm making a slightly sad panda face right now, because I'm going to have to go at least another month or two without the Missions / Campaign rulebook, which the game is starting to desperately need now. But also because I'm not getting to see either the Raicho TAG for the Morats or the Iguana TAG for the Nomads. However, we do at least have something I've been waiting a long time for...

Infinity: Haris L1... should I be concerned?

Just what has this little token brought to the table?

So Infinity has a new rule, Fireteam: Haris L1, you can read it for yourself here. What does this little rule update actually mean though for the game of Infinity? Answer it's probably too early to say for sure. I remember the furore over Link Teams and Sectorial lists in the Human Sphere book. It caused quite a stir at the time and people were sure it would lead to at least one of two things, if not both:

  1. Totally unbalance and unhinge the game
  2. Lead eventually to a bigger squad based Infinity

Now at the time I wasn't really a full member of the online Infinity community, I was more a lurker who occasionally posted a brief comment, so I didn't get all tangled up in any of the 'debate'. Although I did find much of it very interesting to read at the time.

My current Link Team of Choice... with a Missile Launcher!

There were the doom mongers who preached that the apocalypse was coming, there were the moderates who preached we should wait and see before deciding, and then their were the blind zealots who believed Corvus Belli could do no wrong and soon Infinity would take over the globe!!! Now... I didn't fit into any of those three broad camps, and if I did it was probably with the moderates. Nope I believed all three viewpoints were valid, for the people who held them. For the doom mongers Link Teams might very well have killed Infinity off for them, they're certainly a potent option for some Sectorial forces, less so for others. Meanwhile for the zealots they might have added an extra layer of awesome on top of an already heady mix of greatness... and the moderates are still probably sitting on an uncomfortable fence somewhere, worrying about piles!

Infinity April 2012 releases

This months releases.

So once again Corvus Belli have dropped their monthly Infinity releases on us. They actually did so on Wednesday via their Facebook Page, this being a new tactic they seem to be employing to stop the weight of rabid fanbois crashing their own servers every time they post something up on their own website. So I'm a couple of days late to the party so to speak, however, it's a bit of a tradition on this here Blog to talk about such things on a Friday, plus I really wanted to pour over the changes to a certain units profile! More on that later though. This months Angel Giraldez 'leak' was the lovely looking Hospitaller Knight Father-Officer Gabriele De Fersen... try saying that after a night out on the lash!!! So he seems as good a place as any to start.

Gabriele De Fersen (or Gabby for short)

OK when this was Angel's 'leak' this month I got all excited. It's actually quite rare you see for Angel's official unofficial leak to be the best miniature that month... but Gabby is utterly splendid. I can't empahsise enough just how cool it is to see one of the Pan-O knights sans helmet. There is a level of badassery in his pose, standing there helmet off surveying the battlefield looking for the next target. There's a lot of highly dynamic poses in the Infinity range and then there are the ultra static kickass I'm standing here deal with it poses too. Gabby is sitting somewhere nicely between these two extremes. He's not leaping over a barricade or standing there motionless and nonchalant, there's minor movement in his sword and rifle arms and that's mirrored by the ripples in his tabard. So I like the look of yet another Pan-O miniature... curse my eyes!!! What's he like on the tabletop then? Well he's a bit of a beast with his CC 17 and BS 14, he's a spitfire totting, AP + Shock CCW wielding meanie!!! It doesn't get any nicer if you're not a Pan-O player either, he has both PH and WIP 14, ARM 4, BTS -6 (that's good) and to top it off the git has 2 wounds. He's also unsurprisingly a religious trooper and has Martial Arts L3... all this for 65pts and 2 SWC? Yes please.

Infinity March releases

This months awesome releases... March is a good month!!!

So once more we have the lovely looking releases from Corvus Belli, for their Infinity range. Excited! Yet again they've chosen to utilise Facebook's significantly more potent servers to release these images on first. Hopefully sparing their own servers the indignity of grinding to a halt yet again. Wise move if you ask me, and I hope it's one they'll stick to. Because there's nothing more frustrating than knowing there are shiny new Infinity miniatures out there, and no way to see them because their servers have melted under the weight of expectation.  So I'll be taking you through the releases as best I can I guess, oh yes, and I'll be linking to the Infinity Wiki throughout this article to the skills so that new comers to the game aren't left scratching their heads about what I'm talking about. The Infinity Wiki by the way is an awesome resource. So shall we get on with it?

Hafza Spitfire

So what do I think of the look of the miniature? Well you can't accuse it of being a static Haqqislam catalogue model pose sculpt, that's for sure! Do I like it though? Nope, he looks awkward and I'm not so sure the sense of movement is quite right. But lets be clear here, compared to most miniature ranges he's bloody brilliant. No it's just that when you compare it to the Infinity range as a whole it's at best average, and more than likely slightly below average. So I guess it's not that bad at all given how good the range is! So how does our cheeky chappy perform on the table? Well I quite like the Hafza's in general. They actually fulfil my specified role as a 'useful Lieutenant'. I believe you see, that the free Lieutenants order you get in Infinity is a useful little resource you should try to use every turn. So you'll need a pretty good lieutenant to use it. But, not one that is so good you'll need to chuck them forward to make your battle plan work, you don't want to unnecessarily run the risk of being in loss of Lieutenant. The Hafza is perfect for this. So I guess given I like Spitfires, I'm really pleased to see the Spitfire variant released. They've got a pretty good statline with a good solid standard MOV 4-4 and a decent BS 12, which means you're going to be able to make best use of that Spitfire. They also come with the pretty nifty skill of Holoprojector L1, which allows you to deploy another miniature of similar size on the board instead of the actual miniature. Nifty for hiding the identity of your Lieutenant, it's a skill I really like. You can pretend to be something really nasty or something more innocuous. It's good fun to play around with. All in all it's not a bad option and it might surprise your opponent when you finally reveal what it is, and open up with that Spitfire. For 23 C and 1 SWC for both variants I think it's a highly viable option, oh yeah and in a Qapu Khalqi force the Hafza's are Linkable, and given the cost of some of the options I say they're viable as a good solid link team.

Review: MAS Concrete Wall Holoboard Section

This is how it comes packaged

As you will no doubt know if you have read my reviews of both Micro Arts Studio's Urban Building and Micro Art Studios Tech Walkway you'll no doubt  know that I'm a big fan of the aesthetic of Micro Art Studio's Designed for Infinity range. However, I think it's fair to say that I've not been overly impressed with the versatility of the range. After all there is only the one building type and the one walkway, but I guess I really ought to hold off judging the range until I've reviewed the Concrete Wall's, Holoboard's and Internal Walls. Well today I'll be reviewing the Concrete Wall Holoboard section. I chose to review this section of wall because I felt I'd get a sense of what the other wall sections are like, as well as seeing what the most complex piece was like... well... the other sections are one piece moulds while this section is made of three parts. Yeah hardly complex I know, but still my thinking was sound. Hopefully!

Product Description

Well it's a wall, with a Holoboard on top of it. Job done! What do you mean you need more of a product description than that? OK, OK keep your hair on, I'll give it my best shot. Here goes... The Concrete Wall Holoboard Section comes in three parts as I said above in my introduction. The largest of the three parts is clearly, and unsurprisingly, the main wall section, which is a sizable chunk of resin. I assume that all the other wall sections from the range are cast in the same way and come as single pieces like this one. The next resin piece is the frame that sits on top of the main wall section, it's sort of a 'U' shape with a grove cast into it for the final piece, while it itself sits in a groove on top of the main wall section. And so, onto the final piece we go, I'm sure you've all guessed that the final component of the Concrete Wall Holoboard Section is indeed the actual Holoboard section itself. I know, it surprised me too! The Holoboard is a precision laser cut and etched piece of Green Acrylic and very snazzy it is too! Obviously the laser etching only fits onto one side, so sadly it'll be back to front one way, but I guess it'll have to do until Micro Art Studio's get their act together and make me an actual Holoboard... just kidding guys, although just so you know, that would totally rock!

Infinity new releases!!! (February)

It's rapidly becoming a tradition here at Frontline Games HQ, that I cover the ever so lovely miniature releases every month from Corvus Belli's delectable Infinity range. I'm not about to break with tradition now am I? Nope, I'm not. It's also becoming tradition for Señor Angel Giraldez to release an early peek of one of the gorgeous miniatures his talented hands have painted for that months releases. This time February's early glimpse meant it was the turn of Pan-O players to get all hot under the collar first, with the terribly sexy looking Jotum. But, Angel didn't stop there this time, it seems he himself was particularly pleased with his work, and why wouldn't he be, it's a stunning paint job, so he released some detail pics of the Jotum as well. So yep, they've been given another one of their blasted TAGs those Pan-O swines! They still haven't got them all though, so those Pan-O players you know won't have quit their incessant whinging yet... just you watch!

Jotums

Yeah, yeah they're the TAG faction blah, blah, blah... I'm tired of hearing Pan-O players grumble and whinge about how they don't have all their TAGs yet. Boo hoo for you. So the the Cutter's not good enough for you? The Dragoes didn't sate your appetites either. So Corvus Belli have released yet another stunning looking TAG for you, this time it's the lovely looking Jotum. I have to admit it though, I'm a tiny little bit jealous of all those Pan-O players when I look at this miniature *sigh* . So what is it like on the table? Well like all TAGs its statline makes for impressive reading it's MOV 6-4 is your standard TAG movement. It's CC of 18 is also pretty standard as too is it's BS 15. However, it's PH of 17 and WIP 13 does give it a slight advantage on most of the Pan-O TAGs at the very least in WIP, but where it really kicks ass is with it's ARM 10 and BTS -9. Couple it's PH, WIP, ARM and BTS together along with it's STR 3 and what you arguably have is the most survivable TAG in the game. It's a tank and many people worry about dropping  the points required on most TAGs because they're normally vulnerable to something or other, but the Jotums are built to last! It's got some tasty weapons too with the Multi-HMG and HGL, at 110 pts and 2 swc it doesn't come cheap though. Reality is Pan-O have an awesome array of TAGs available, would I take this over an Armoured Cavalry? Yeah, the extra stats for those points seems worth it. It becomes tricky though when you look at the cheaper Dragoes with their awesome weapons, and the TO camo Cutter. There's more TAGs still to be released for Pan-O too... greedy *bleep*er's.

Micro Art and Sarissa Precision comparision pictures

This isn't a 'versus' article. This isn't me saying hey, look product 'A' is better than product 'B'. It's just me putting up some quick comparision snaps, as it's something people have asked me to do and I think people might find it useful. I'm sorry that some of my Pods etc are part painted, but I'm trying to get my table started and am in the middle of doing various articles with them so hopefully you'll let me off just this once. I'll do some measurement / height comparisons also, so those of you wanting to mix and match the sets will know what's what.

Walkways and Gantries

So first up we have the walkways from Micro Art Studios and the ganties from Sarissa Precision. First off some vital statistics the height of the MAS upper walkway is 5" whereas the Sarissa Precision upper gantry measures at a height of 6.5" or thereabouts. The MAS lower walkway measures in at 2.5" while the Sarissa Precision lower gantry measures in at roughly 3.5". So as you can see there's a bit of a height difference between the two systems.

In the background you can see the high Gantry from Sarissa Precision, compared with the MAS upper walkway in the foreground. I used the short gantries from Sarissa Precision in these shots.

Yes it's Infinity January release time again!

It's rapidly becoming my favourite time of the month... not that I have anything else which happens on a cycle every month you understand. But yet again it's time for Corvus Belli's servers to go into complete and utter meltdown and fall over as the weight of expectant fans crushes their puny none-Maya compliant servers! If Aleph was involved you just know this sort of shenanigans wouldn't happen. Any way as with last month I'll discuss the various releases from a aesthetic point of view as well as a gaming and tactical point of view. However, you might want to ignore my tactical advice because the only reason I seem to win is because the dice faeries still love me.

Die Morlock Gruppen

I don't really like the original sculpts I have to be brutally honest. Well I didn't like one of the original sculpts, the female one was OK. But when I saw these bad boys on Angel Giraldez's Blog a few days ago now I have to say I thought they looked absolutely brilliant. My favourite has to be the X-Men Beast inspired miniature. He's all sorts of awesome if you ask me. Mr Green and scaly isn't too bad either so he too gets my thumbs up. No doubt though many people will like little Ms Knife ears, the elf wannabe, or perhaps the blue skinned vixen with the dreadlocks and a weird looking boomerang! Lets be honest here, even if you're not an Infinity fan you have to admit these look pretty damn cool. So what are they like on the table? Well they're cheap as chips close combat troopers for the Nomads, with Martial Arts Level 2 and CC18, they're not bad. They are sadly impetuous though, which means they'll go tearing after the nearest enemy, which can be a pain in the proverbial. They do come with smoke grenades, which you know, is nice and you can actually get some of these for 0swc and 7 points if you take the chain rifle variant. They're in the Bakunin Sectorial Force, but sadly you can't make them into a link team to get rid of that irksome impetuous. They do however have one of Infinity's more 'fun' rules... MetaChemistry. Before battle you roll a D20 to determine what extra ability each Morlock has from +1 ARM to Total Immunity and many cool skills in between. They might not be the best troopers in the game, but they are lots of fun. These bad boys and girls will definitely find their way into my collection.

Review: System ∞ - Gantry System (Sarissa Precision)

I hope you can all appreciate why this gets an 'ABC' award!!!

First things first, these were given to me free of charge to review, so as always I like to make that clear right at the offset so you can make your own mind up about how trustworthy this review is. Secondly the reason that these are being released a little after the initial System ∞ launch is that Sarissa Precision decided to add some further supports to the stanchions under their gantries, after some feedback (I'm partly to blame for that - so sorry to those of you who have been eagerly awaiting this stuff). Good to know they listen and respond to customers though. Thirdly, Oh boy is this going to be a big, and I mean BIG review. Rather than review each piece of terrain individually in this range I'm going to review them as a whole 'modular system'. I have no idea how or whether this is going to work or not, within the confines of my normal review structure. However, I feel it's the right approach to take. After all we're talking about a fully modular range of scenery that realistically can't be reviewed as it's constituent parts. That wouldn't be any use to you guys. So if this gets long winded I apologise in advance, but it's for your own good! Just remember you only have to read it, I had to figure it all out and write the damn thing... Oh yeah, and that is yet another Approved by Cats badge!

That's a lot of stuff!!!
Product description

And here my wonderful idea to review this as an 'entire system' hits it's first snag. I'm not reviewing a single product so can't describe the individual pieces as they are many are varied, and ultimately open ended. Bugger. So I'm going to discuss the product in general terms. All the pieces will be precision laser cut HDF. If you buy one of the actual walkways the construction will be formed of a base piece, which two side stanchions insert into. There will then be a number of stanchion support struts, which were added after initial feedback from yours truly. On top of these stanchions will then fit the walkway pieces. Into this walkway piece(s) will then fit the hand rails. A standard walkway kit will be between roughly 8 to 12 pieces. Corner pieces will be less while the various stair options will be considerably more. It is onto the basic gantry sections that all of the gantry upgrade kits (or bling kits as a friend calls them) are then fitted into place. All in all it fits together exceedingly well, and has been cleverly thought out, with pretty much every possible variant you could want or need in the range.

Review: System ∞ Street Canopy with lighting

Waiting for a bus, or having a cigarette... you decide!

I know. Two reviews in one day, I'm spoiling you all again. This time it's for the street canopy with lighting from the Sarissa Precisions System ∞ range. Earlier on today I reviewed the Street Lighting Set, and while in the case of those they were basically eye candy or incidental clutter, that can not be said of the Street Canopy. No Sir! These have their uses...

Product description

Well It's a bus shelter, come outdoor cigarette smoking shelter thingy. If you live in the UK or Ireland I'm sure you've seen these sorts of thing spring up outside your local pub as the smoking ban kicks in. Very bizarre. Any way this is Sarissa Precisions futuristic take on these structures. It comes in 6 HDF laser cut pieces, 2 side stanchions, 2 roof sections, 1 base and 1 low level street lamp. There are also 2 laser cut acrylic discs to represent street lights. As with the street light set Sarissa didn't send me the standard clear acrtlic with blue tint for these but this funky orange... yes funky orange is a colour now because I say it is! Don't you argue with me. :P

Review: System ∞ Street lighting Set

Little and Large, and no I'm not talking about the Deva and TAG

Well I thought I'd better get on with reviewing what I refer to as the 'street clutter' products from Sarissa Precisions System ∞ range. I'll keep them brief though as they aren't major pieces of terrain. So first up are the street lights...

Product description

Well there aren't really that many piece to put together thankfully. The set comes with 3 tall street lights and 3 short street lights. There are 6 bases to mount them on and you'll have 18 laser cut acrylic discs to go with them to represent the lights. Mine are weird and whacky colours that Sarissa sent me to show off the range of acrylic they could do, but I believe the sets come with a clear acrylic with a slight blue hint... classy looking!

System ∞ terrain launches today!!!

A simple Pod Combo I've used.

Yep as the title says! The Sarissa Precision System ∞ terrain is now available to buy. That is all for today as I'm going to have to go to the Police Station to report a crime. You see I woke up yesterday (1/1/2012) with a searing pain in my head and then later discovered that all my money had disappeared!!! The only plausible explanation that I've been able to come up with is that I was clearly bloody mugged. The blaggard must have koshed me over the back of my head, and then made off with my money. It must have happened at some point just after midnight because things get a little bleary after that. Oh yeah here's the price list for the System ∞ stuff:

Infity December Releases

So yeah I'm a couple of days late with this stuff, but I don't feel so bad as I've given all of my readers a sneaky peak, as it were, at the  Sarissa Precision System ∞ stuff. So it's not like you've gone without now is it? No, besides the Infinity servers didn't go into meltdown this time, which makes a nice change and I'm sure you've all been able to see them by now. So this isn't going to be a show and tell, more a show and what do I think of the miniatures and are they a valid option on the battlefield? So here goes...

Posthumans

Well I may as well start with the controversial Posthumans. Why are they controversial? God only knows is my answer! But, it seems some people don't like the look of them and have decided they're rubbish. Part of the issue seems to be that they're all female and aren't necessarily the most combat ready looking bunch of miniatures you've ever seen. Plus some of the poses don't float everyone's boat, in particular the Proxy Mk2, or sniper. Well here's my take on them, the Proxy Mk1's look pretty much spot on to the artwork and I quite like the fact that they don't necessarily look like hardened warriors. I mean why should they? These are just hosts, that quite frankly are inhabited by consciousnesses that don't have any fear of death. So why not look all cutesy while eviscerating people? The Proxy Mk 2 is a totally different kettle of fish though. Here you actually have a fully locked and loaded combat robot that looks bad ass. So why is she sitting all provocatively on a piece of terrain? And that's the real problem with this pose for me, I hate miniatures that 'carry' terrain around with them. The Proxy Mk3 has been criticised as well for the way she looks. People don't seem to like the face and the helmet in particular. But if you go take a look at Angel Giraldez blog you'll see some different angles of the mini and it makes more sense. I guess though ultimately some people just don't like the futuristic girl band look! But what about in game play terms? Simply put, if you're an Aleph player you'll want these no question. Mine are already on order. Yes they are that good.

Review: System ∞ - Warehouse (Sarissa Precision)

Well I really like the range as a whole, and this is my favourite piece

When I first opened my box of free swag I was instantly drawn to this piece of scenery. It's shear size just drew me to it. You see one of the many problems facing you when you first start playing Infinity will be scenery. Most of you will start out using 40k type terrain, but you soon realise that it just doesn't offer enough cover. You need solid blocks of terrain, so you soon move onto big boxes. Then you realise that you've just cut off most of the tabletop and what you need is big solid boxes with interiors. I have to be honest and say that what is currently on the market is great to look at and does its job relatively well. However, none of it covers enough of the board for the price... but this? This warehouse does just that.

Product description

It is a huge feck off warehouse made of laser cut and etched HDF. Its shear bulk means it also gives off the maximum glorious burnt wood smell... full of win. Any way it is constructed of 23 parts and is simplicity itself to construct. There is a base off of which, you build the rest of the kit. There are two end plates one with two garage doors, the other with a single garage door, a doorway and some sort of high level access hatch. There is also a middle support structure that is placed between the two end plates. The 4 wall sections then attache onto the end plates and the middle support structure. Next goes the roof on top of which, goes 4 hand rails. There are also two roof access ladders that come with this kit that comprise of 5 parts each. It stands at roughly 4.5" high, is 8.5" wide and is 11.5" in length.

Review: System ∞ - Silo (Sarissa Precision)

A snipers wet dream. No not the unpainted Guija, the silo!!!

As always the public health warning goes out to you all letting you know that I was gifted this for free by the lovely chaps at Sarissa Precision.Don't ask me what we'll store in silo's in the future, because I just don't know. However, what watching copious amounts of dodgy sci-fi TV programs has taught me is that in the future there will indeed be silo's. Probably lots of them, storing chemical weapons or Soylant Green!

Product description

A bit like the Shipping Containers I reviewed earlier on today, Silo's are something many gamers like to have on their sci-fi themed boards. Like all the other Sarissa Precision scenery this is a laser cut and etched kit. The Silo kit comes with 20 pieces. Comprising of 2 end plates, one blank and one with a hole for a hatch. This is the same hatch construction found on the various Habitation Pods, and comes in 4 parts. There are 8 side walls, one with an etched hatch door, which has a further piece to be glued onto the surface around it and another comes with cut out pin holes for attaching the silo ladders when the silo is deployed on its side. There is also the 'long ladder' for when it is standing up, which comes in 3 parts, 2 side rails and 1 ladder section. There is also a 3 part floor stand for when it is lying on it's side. When lying down its length is 7.5", its width and 2.5" and its height 3.25". When standing up its height is obviously 7.5" and its width and length is 2.5, or thereabouts.

Review: System ∞ - Shipping Containers (Sarissa Precision)

Shipping container and unpainted Guija for size comparison!

I guess when I asked Steve months ago now if they could do a shipping container, that they'd already been considering it. I mean lets face it, everyone knows how useful shipping containers are in games right? They're a great way to fill out a board and block LoS... besides the AT-43 Shipping Containers are now worth more than their weight in platinum!!! As with the other pieces from the System ∞ range I've reviewed Sarissa Precision were kind enough to make this an early Christmas present.

This could arguably be the most anticipated product launch of the year. Seriously forget Nintendo's weird looking Wii U, I'm not even bothered by Ridley Scott's new film Prometheus and genuinely I'm no longer excited about playing Uncharted on the move with the PS Vita. Nope, I've now got access to a cheap cool looking futuristic shipping container for my games of Infinity! Ahem... yeah, that makes me an über geek. As always it's a laser cut and etched HDF. It has 10 components. 4 long sides, 2 end plates and 4 external supports. The vital statistics are as follows, it's 7" long, 3" wide and 3" high, these are rough measurements.
