Z War One Video and Kickstarter

It has been a fair old while since I updated this blog, and some of you have been getting a little restless shall we say. I'd like to make it abundantly clear that neither I nor this blog is dead. However, I do think things are likely to remain 'sketchy' round here for some time yet I'm afraid. You see other things are still having to take precedence, and even my gaming time has taken a significant battering of late. So I figured I'd best keep my trap shut until I had something worth saying rather than force out articles that quite frankly would have been page filler at best.

Any way, something has dropped onto my desk that I thought you might be interested in. Some of you might remember zombie week, and maybe some of you will remember that I had a first play through of a game called Z War One. I also interviewed the games creator Rob Butler of Ill Gotten Games. To paraphrase things I thought Rob had some interesting narrative ideas, with the game linking in with comic books to spin a yarn and missions. I also felt that while mechanically the game was sound, it was a little rough around the edges and needed more time to work on a few things. Well that is exactly what Rob and his team have done.

I'll be hoping to get another look at the significantly updated game soon, possibly before they start their Kickstart campaign for the game. In the meantime I thought some of you might like to take a look at the short live action film they've created to promote the game. It's not bad is it? Makes you wander why some more established miniature firms can't achieve similar results with their own video's doesn't it? Any way, you can keep up-to-date on their Facebook Page, or indeed the games website. I'm a fan of zombies, but I know many of you aren't, or perhaps you already have 'your' zombie game. However, I do think that if Rob and his cohorts can deliver on their ideas that Z War One will at the very least be deserving of some attention.

As for me and this Blog? Well maybe I better start thinking about shambling back from the dead myself. I'll still probably be erratic in my posting for the foreseeable future, unless I get a permanent full-time job that allows me to get some sort of routine in my life. So if you want to see more posts on this Blog you better keep your fingers crossed or pray to whatever God(s) you worship that I find something soon. Have a few interviews lined up so fingers crossed that the economy is getting better and is no longer angry at us all. I do though have two Sunday Sermons ready to go this weekend and next... as always... Peace out!

  1. I'll say the same as I always do when a new post appears; it's good to hear from you again :)

I always check back regularlly in case anything new pops up and even if it doesn't this is always a good place to check for updates on other blogs.

The work situation must suck; my girlfriend's in the same boat at the moment, I hope you manage to get something sorted soon.

Looking forward to some new Sunday Sermons, they're always a good read. I've found myself missing your Infinity new release reviews so hopefully they'll make a reappearance some day! ;)

    1. Well it's all over the shop with regards work. Some weeks I'm so busy I don't have time to sleep. Others I could do nothing but sleep. Not great for my home life or my sanity if I'm honest. I'd like a bit of routine and order back in my life. But given how things are there isn't much call for people with my talents in permanent positions right now.

That vid was suprisingly good. Nice atmosphere and suspense. Impressive for only 3 and a half minutes.

    1. I was pleasantly surprised actually by the video as well. Rob's a nice chap, and I wish him all the best with his game. It certainly has some neat ideas and I'm looking forward to seeing what he's done with it all. I'm hopeful it'll at least be a solid game.

    1. Yeah permanent work is hard to come buy. Especially if you're a researcher. I'll keep plugging away. At some point something will have to change.

  4. In your honour, I have sacrificed an assortment of my chickens and ducks to various deities, in the hope that it will be of some assistance (my stomach is a god, right?).

I hope everything picks up for you, mate; I've missed your perspective.

Always good to see a new post :)
