BaneLegions Price rises.

Well it's not all good news today I'm afraid to report. You see the first he giveth then he taketh away. It seems that unfortunately BaneLegions are unable to maintain the current prices in their miniatures range due to the increasing costs apparently of making polyurethane resin miniatures has gone up in price. So that means they're going to be passing the cost onto us the consumer, which you know sucks a bit, but hey we're all used to price rises right? Luckily though they've given us fair warning as the prices are going up on Friday 6th July. So what are those price increases?

And thus ends this public service announcement. I have to be honest and say it simply could not have come at a worse time for many of us gamers who have been tapped out massively with so many brilliant crowd funding projects going on right now, having recently finished. Also for those of you who play 40K there's a pretty big expense you'll be needing as well so I hear. So many of us will be totally tapped out. The increases aren't huge clocking in at roughly 10% across the entire range, and some things are staying the same price or reducing. But, with just under a week to make use of the lower price point I wander how many will have the funds still. Peace out!

  1. Too bad :s
I don't know if you heard yet, but according to Maelstrom Freebooter's Fate is increasing prices as well. Although little should change because of the exchange rate. Only starter sets should increase by a pound.

    1. Yeah I had heard on the grapevine and I saw it on Maelstrom that Freebooter's Fate was rising in price. But, I don't yet have details and from what I've seen it's more a tiny adjustement with as you say £1 being added on to starter sets that cost £27. I don't think that's anything to get too worked up about given rising costs of manufacturing. On individual mini's is seems to be a couple of pence, so I'll wait and see how it shakes out.

    2. I agree, it's nothing to get worked up about. But it's still good to know in advance :)

    3. Yes and it's good most companies in the hobby approach it maturely and let us know in advance, and let us know why. We can deal with it when told why and when.

  2. Hang on hang on hang on....

I don't think they understand how price increases work.

    1. lol.

I think they do and they're doing it like the vast majority of decent, well run firms. They're informing customers as early as they can. They've genuinely checked costs and prices of their miniatures production, and change all prices to fairly reflect costs. That means some reduction in price, some stay the same and some go up in price. That is how a company SHOULD instigate prices rises. Certain other companies are laboring under misguided beliefs. :P

    2. No, they're laboring under vast cynicism. I was working for them not long after the Iraq invasion and we were told to blame it for the price increase on plastics that year. The manager was incredibly chuffed that their plastics don't use oil at all and thus they were getting money for nothing. He could have been lying because he was that kind of guy, but there's an equal chance that he wasn't.

  3. I see a reduction this is the worst increase ever.

    1. @Jaz, please see response to Arquinsiel. :P

And yes as price rises go, actually reducing prices is Epic Fail. ;)

  4. Given that Mr. McVey is about to be reaping from everyone's wallets in about 75 minutes, I can see what you mean about timing. 10% doesn't seem too bad though.

    1. Ah yes the great big cash grab that is Sedition Wars. Has left anyone with any money at all? Or are we all wiped out? And yeah a roughly 10% hike across the range isn't too bad, especially as the prices on some of these things were set three years or more ago now and they haven't raised prices in that time. I think this is their first price rise.

  5. Shhhhh!
    I'm not here.
I'm keeping a low profile, as I have been told to by my employers.
....just thought I'd sneak out an' say hi.

    So....hai!
    :)

  6. There's a difference between price rises and taking your wallet out back for a good seeing to every 12 months*.... these I can stomach.

*Not that I buy much GW any more and when I do it's not from GW, but still ;)

    1. I think if GW actually informed their fans fans of any rises in advance and also told people the reason for the rises, I mean literally broke it down for people they might, just might win a few people round with it. Because if they do have genuine reasons for these annual price hikes then most people would accept it if they could see the reasons. They might not like it, but they might accept it.

    2. +1 on what Baragash said.
And it's not just the last price rises, it's the one before that, and the one before that (...), and how every year they change units and army composition to induce players to 'invest'..
[Sorry I know that's not the theme today.]

As stated, small price increases are understandable (even if not affordable, at least understandable).
Tough times ahead for our hobby's...

    3. Indeed. Comparing the way other companies deal with price hikes is interesting compared to how GW do it. It's hard not to compare... so I guess I'll let you off this once. :P
