All the way from the land of Maple Syrup!!!

Huzzah!!! Just when I was starting to think that maybe it was lost in the post.

Well there goes today's plans! I had intended on sitting down and finishing off my review of the Freebooter's Fate Imperial Armada boxed set today. But that will have to now wait until tomorrow. Those of you who frequent my Blog will know, a few weeks back I wrote a brief article introducing Heavy Gear Blitz as a game that 'intrigued' me. As for former Battletech Mech Head I'm not going to lie to you, my interest was more than piqued. However, I did face a bit of an uphill struggle round these parts to convince others to take the plunge, luckily for me John Nguyen of Dream Pod 9 helped me out with that. So I've been waiting on a nice shiny box containing some NuCoal goodness, and if you heard a really loud girlish squeal around 13:21 GMT then that was me receiving my parcel. I am going to take my time with these though and you won't be seeing any Blogs on Heavy Gear Blitz for a few weeks yet. This is because I want to wrap my head around it all properly and give you some quality content. While you're all waiting for that though he's some pictures of what I've got:

Hussar in tank mode... squeal!!!

Hussar in Walker mode... so excited my hands were shaking

NuCoal Infantry Platoon... otherwise known as cannon fodder

It's a G.P. Squad!!! What's a G.P. Squad again? If you squint you can see my reflection in the shiny box!

OK, now Recon Squad I understand. You can still see my reflection!

Apparently even on Terra Nova Union's are all powerful... what? Oh it's not that kind of 'strike'

Now Fire Support, is that something to do with Firemen? Yes? Oh. No apparently not!

I have no idea why this picture has gone all dark and brooding on me.

Yay!!! I even got a belated Christmas present. Win!!!

So there you have it, I've been suckered into playing yet another sodding wargame. I've even roped a few others in with me now, they've also already informed me that I am most likely on my way to hell for services rendered to capitalism. Yeah, I can see that. I'm really excited to finally get my grubby little hands on my own Gears and I'm looking forward to getting them out on the table. Right I'm off to do some pinning while making Transformer noises... yeah, I refuse to grow up. Peace out!

Well at least I wouldn't be there on my own hey SinSynn. We need hobbies though to keep us out of trouble right?

  3. Congratulations! That is an impressive force you've got there! Glad you were able to scrape together the funds. :)

Looking forward to follow this little project, although it might be a bit further out.

    1. Yeah, I think the earliest point at which I'll be getting round to Heavy Gear Blitz is maybe late March early April. I want to shift my Malifaux gang and my EotBS fleet done first. They're not that far off now. There's also a one off project I want to attempt to bring the love back into my painting.

    2. Well, there's no rush right? :)

That one-off project is intriguing me! Looking forward to hearing more of it!

With the French finally being released I will probably get my first Dystopian Wars fleet myself. I'm not sure if I will actually play the game or not, but those are some damn sexy models! And you know I have a weak spot for flying boats. Hehe!

    3. Don't get your hopes up too high for my one-off project. It's nothing special. Just me trying to get back into the swing of things I guess.

    1. I'm interested. Martyn already has some although they may be older :-D

I've been hanging my nose over this a while for Gruntz and just for a Mecha game but finding a uk stockist seems like a PITA... Jorvik Games seem like the only one but have zero stock...

    2. Just found it, apparently Wayland Games have the exclusive EU distribution rights. Looks like they've got everything up on their site.

    1. Looks like you can play small actions anyway, I might pick up a GP squad box and d/l the quick start rules. I found a good rules demo vid done by a Canadian store owner (can't remember who exactly & can't find it again now - sod's law) & it looks like a fun, quick-fire game.
