Sarissa Precission System ∞ Update Post

Interesting...

It's been quite some time since I spoke about Sarissa Precisions rather awesome System ∞ sci-fi scenery system. I'm pretty damn sure regular readers will know how much of a fan of the stuff I am. Well with the release of Campaign Paradiso for Infinity I've been re-looking at my scenery and seeing where there might be any gaps. Interestingly, and I'm sure totally coincidentally, Sarissa have actually released a few more pieces of terrain of terrain this past week for their System ∞ stuff, and I've been lucky enough to get my hands on some of it...

This isn't going to be a full on review of the stuff because I've already pretty much reviewed these items already, you can find a long list of Sarissa Precision System ∞ reviews here. Nope, these are more my musings on what these extra pieces add to the range and what I genuinely think of them. First up here are some concept sketches:

I think the idea of these are brilliant. In the same way as I think the L-shaped buildings and floor expansions for MAS Designed for Infinity range are. In terms of providing different shapes and effective barriers on the tabletop, the System ∞ range already provided you with plenty of interesting layout options and floor plans. However these new options give us loads more:

  • Habitation Pod - Settler with Side Access - £16.00
  • Habitation Pod - Family with Side Access - £20.00
  • Commercial Pod - Plaza with Side Access - £22.50
  • 4-Way Pod - £20.00
  • 4-Way Link Pod -£17.50
  • Link-pod short - £7.50
  • Link-pod Long - £10.00
  • Link-pod Side Entrance Short - £7.50
  • Link-pod Side Entrance Long - £10.00

So you can put these together in some really interesting ways I think to create some quite complex floor plates. Thinking about it there's actually now a possibility to build a proper full on Aliens type complex, because these pods are now effectively corridors, which can lead into bigger rooms. So yeah, there are loads of really cool possibilities now. I haven't got too many of these, but I do have a few to play about with:

So yeah I'm pretty pleased with how these new pieces fit in, and the sort of options they give me when creating my boards. I haven't yet had the chance to throw these down on a board in anger as it were, but I can't see how they'd perform any differently form the other System ∞ Pods. It's just all about giving us the possibility of chucking a few more interesting shapes on the board. I'm sold. Peace out!

    1. Well when I saw them and started to put them together I have to be honest and say that is what instantly sprang to my mind. Us wargamers are a simple breed to please... and we all think shockingly alike.

  2. I'll be getting some Sarissa stuff eventually and it will include some of these for sure. But ever since you did that sermon on terrain I've been wanting to make some of my own. And if I get these first I'll never get round to it.

Thanks for the heads up though, these look great like the rest of the Sarissa scenery.

    1. Well I knoiw whatyou mean. I'm still producing some of my own terrain... slooooooowly. But this stuff speed things up, and helps me with being lazy.

If you want some great tips on building your own stuff though you should go to the guys below's Blog, Angus. Top tips.

    1. Still waiting to win the lottery? I'll make you a deal. If I win the lottery first I'll buy you some Sarissa stuff if you promise to do the same for me. :P

    2. I'd say lets shake on it, but with the money one of us would waste on train fare we'd probably be able to buy a good chunk of Sarissa scenery!!! :P

  4. These look great. I'm in the process of painting up some Sarissa System Infinity stuff for the local games club, so I shall have to see if they can extend their budget to a link module or two. They look like they'd give (exponentially?) more interesting board layouts.

    1. Yeah I saw max, I gave your painting a plug on Dakka Dakka. I'm SirAngry on those forums.

They're looking nice by the way. You'll have to share how you made your stencils!!! :P

As to the link pods... they're handy, that's for sure.

  5. :) Stencils were just some quick designs knocked up in Powerpoint that I printed out on heavy paper and then carefully cut out with a fine scalpel. I wasn't sure the lettering would work but it was easier than I anticipated.

I'm looking forward to doing some more and possibly sneaking some familiar logos for film geek thrills!

    2. Cool. That's how I did my stencils, but mine didn't work so well, so at least I now know it's down to crap technique on my part!!! :P

Also join the club with regards to responding to the wrong post. I do it so often!!!
