Firstly yes I am aware that I hit 625 followers at some point during last Friday evening / Saturday morning, and yes I'm aware that should have triggered the Studio McVey Sedition Wars giveaway. However, I was busy trying to sort two of my previous prize draws out, and adding another competition to the mix over the weekend just didn't seem wise. So then I seem to already be on to my fifth birthday prize draw, that means I'm now past half way mark on my mammoth giveaway bonanza. Lets take a little bit of time to congratulate those who have already won:
- Heid who won the Heavy Gear Blitz PDF's, and who is probably still reading them.
- Bishop who won the Bushido Prefecture of Ryu Starter Set and Tenshi.
- Vent who won the £40 store credit at Sarissa Precision.
Congratulations to you all, and I hope you're all happy with your free swag. There's still the Werner Klocke signed copy of the Freebooter's Fate rulebook to give away too, there's still time to enter that competition if you want to, here I'm even been nice and giving you a second link. So when that prize draw comes to an end on Wednesday 6th June 2012 at 12:00 PM GMT, I will have accounted for half of the prizes within this marathon giveaway of mine. I'm guessing though you've all turned up to read this article just to find out how you can win yourself a free copy of Sedition Wars, am I right?
Well I'll get to that soon enough, I promise. However, first I'd like to thank Mike McVey for agreeing to support me and my Blog with such an awesome prize. In case you've been living in a cave for the past few days you can't have failed to notice the buzz around the hobby that the Sedition Wars Kickstarter campaign has generated. When I last checked it had just reached $131,000's and smashed through five of it's stretch targets and is homing in on it's sixth target. There's still 26 days to go, so if it gets picked up by the broader geek culture websites it could yet go supernova on us. So I guess you could say it's doing OK. But, I'm going to plug the campaign any way, because I know the amount of work Rob Baxter and Mike McVey have put into it behind the scenes, having play tested it now for a fair few months. It's a fun game with a strong tactical element and a convincing narrative story ark, cleverly woven into the games missions. So I think it's a product worth backing and supporting, and even though I've been promised a free copy of the game I have nevertheless supported Studio McVey with a pledge (Biohazard level if you must know), because it's a product I believe in.
Now that I've got your attention, could I also please ask that you take the time to have a look around the place, and maybe read an article or two? You know, see if this is the sort of Blog you might like to read a bit more of. If you read it and think it's a big old bag of crap fair enough, but at least take the time to decide it's a big bag of crap! I put a hell of a lot of effort into writing what I do and I'd really appreciate it if my newer 'followers' took a little bit of their time to read what I've produced. To the right of the Blog there is a menu entitled system files, and I'm sure there are articles amongst the many I've written over the past year that you'll find interesting. If you feel so inclined please post a comment or two and take part in the debates we have here. I really don't care if an article is nearly a year old either, I'll get a notification informing me of your comment and i will respond to you. I quite like going back to my older articles and re-reading them, and the conversations they generated with fresh eyes. This Blog isn't a place for me to write my articles and feel smug in my superiority, part of the reason I write this Blog is because I'm a hobbyist who is interested in what other hobbyists think, and quite frankly forums aren't the sorts of places you can have sensible 'hobby chat', and that's what I'm trying to make this place, somewhere we hobbyists can sensibly debate hobby topics.
The strain look awesome!!! the Humans are alright too I guess. |
Right, I think I've forced you all to read more than enough stuff from me today, so I'll get right on to what you need to do to enter the Sedition Wars Boxed Set prize draw:
- Be a public follower of this Blog, you can follow now if you like. At the top of the right hand column you'll see a black box entitled Ghosts without a shell, there should be a blue button saying 'join this Blog'... or something like that. Click on it and follow the instructions. I'm going to reemphasize the point that you need to be a public follower of this Blog to be eligible for entry. The last few prize draws people have 'entered' without being followers, and I'm sorry but your names haven't been put in the hat.
- You need to place a comment in the comments section below in this article indicating that you would very much like to win a copy of the Sedition Wars game thank you very much.
- You need to have followed the Blog AND written a comment before the 11th June 2012, 12:00PM GMT. Because that's when I'll be picking a winner at random out of the hat.
- I'll throw in an extra entrance for somebody who give these competitions a shout out either via Twitter account or a Blog post, maximum of two entrances per person.
It's pretty much the same rules as all the other competitions I've put up recently on my Blog during this Birthday Bonanza. Any way I'm going to give you a few more links before I sign off, firstly there's the Studio McVey Blog, which is a really good source of information, unsurprisingly for all things Sedition Wars and Studio McVey. Then there is the Studio McVey webstore, the site where you can but all their splendid Limited Edition resin pieces, which I've reviewed a fair few of on this Blog, all of them are utterly brilliant painting projects, and I'll be reviewing a fair few more of them over the next few weeks too. I know that might sound like an infomercial and I guess in a way it is, but I wouldn't be support Mike and Ali as much as I am if I didn't think what they produced wasn't worth it. They're a small little company, producing really fine miniatures for hobbyists that quite frankly not many other companies would even dream of tackling, so for me they're an important part of the industry already, simply for their art direction alone. So next time you have a bit of spare cash burning a hole in your pocket, pop by their webstore and see if anything takes your fancy. Good luck and peace out!

Put my name in the hat please. It would be awesome if I won because the draw is on my birthday! And I'm a nice guy. And I found a wallet the other week, worked out it came from a local bus company, handed it in (there were about 80 euros and a fiver in it), gave my phone number because the receptionist said the owner would phone me to thank me, then never heard a dickie bird since. So if karma really happens, something good will happen soon........
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't say no to a free copy of Sedition wars.

I'd like to enter please! I've been keeping an eye on Sedition Wars, and it looks very interesting indeed. No to mention the gorgeous miniatures.
ReplyDeleteAlso would like to enter :D (yes signed up via my google account, just don't have my own blog is all).
ReplyDeleteAnd out of curiosity, how many other southern hemisphere entrants?
I couldn't tell you how many Southern Hemisphere entrants there are, but I can tell you that Australia and New Zealand account for roughly 27% of my readers. It's increasing by the month though. During March it was roughly 12%. So the Kiwi's and Aussie contingent on here is starting to grow significantly.
DeleteI would love to win Battle for Alabaster! Thanks Frontline Gamer and McVey.
ReplyDeleteAndrew
Sounds like a fun game - I'll gladly join in!
