Just a quick update

This is just a bit of fun, don't take it too seriously!!!

Right the past two days have been unusually quiet, or low key for a start to a week for me. There are a number of reasons for this:

  1. I'm revising for some professional qualifications, that will hopefully improve my chances of gaining employment.
  2. There have been more jobs than usual to apply for recently, and I figure that sort of stuff is way more important than this Blog.
  3. I've been starting work on my new gaming board. I'll be putting articles up soon I'm sure.
  4. I've been working tirelessly on trying to get my thoughts collected on the Freebooter's Fate Deep Jungle expansion book AND the Amazon starter set.
  5. I've been hard at 'work' play testing a few products for people. Nothing I can reveal yet, but hopefully when the products drop I'll be in a good position to spill the beans!
  6. I have been working on my Maagaan miniature still, but progress is slow for the above reasons. Hopefully I'll have the next WIP article up next week.

Any way, it can't have escaped your notice that at the top of the page is an image of Space Marines. I had a chat with my Cats the other day, and it seems the following poster had 'annoyed' both Macavity and Tybalt:

The Original Poster

They felt it didn't fairly represent the reality of the situation accurately. In fact Macavity went so far as to suggest he'd never seen some of these Chapters on a 40k battlefield ever. Tybalt also lamented what he called "hughmans lack of creativity" and "imger... imajin... erm... stuff!". So the cats have thrown together their own poster, mocking us all and well and truly throwing the gauntlet down!!! They reckon we're all far to wedded to our Blood Angels, Space Wolves (They're very unhappy about the 'Space Puppies' as it happens) and Grey Knights. Are they right? I have to say that on the whole I feel they may indeed have a point. Peace out!

PS. This is just yet another reason why I need a job... this passes as 'entertainment' for me now. Still it beats the brain rot that is daytime TV!

  1. Good luck with the job front, they ahve a point but not a big point, I need to find a larger copy of the poster....

    1. Yeah, it's just a bit of fun though. I'm mainly poking it at a few people who I know, myself included actually. As for finding a bigger version of the poster... that's what I wanted to do. The poster on this Blog was the largest version I could find.

As for the jobs front... it's sodding difficult out there now to get a job, it really, really is. But I'll keep plugging away, I'm not without my talents and I'm sure someone has need of an overly efficient nerdy geek, with a love of organising and statistics!!!

  2. Excellent!

    Funny, sad, and true....

You left out the bare plastic / black primer marines, that count as BA / SW / GK, or whatever is deemed the best at the time...

Also, I've been enjoying your back catalogue in between posts, so no love lost here. Looking for some new board games to play, so I've been enjoying your old reviews.

Life trumps blog every time; look after the important stuff first.

    1. I'm glad you're enjoying my back catalogue of articles. I've put a lot of effort into this Blog over the last 9 months, mainly to help keep me sane while I looked for work... but it is nice when people appreciate what you've produced. Cheers.

    3. I know, I know... but I do have sympathy with it. I honestly do. I just think it's a shame people feel the need.

  4. Good luck on the job front FG.

I am not sure there are that many players that remember rogue trader never mind that poster.

But is it fair to blame the players when specific armies shoe horn you into the chapters.

    1. Ishibei, as always with these things my tongue is firmly in my cheek. :P

I do this sort of stuff to try and get a little response and debate going. I honestly have no idea whether there is, or indeed should be any blame attached anywhere. It is what it is. I'm not sure either of us over analysing it will make it any different than it already is. Just wandered what people's thoughts were is all, I hear a lot of grumbles about the 'BIG 3' as some call them. I was mischief making... with the cats of course to see what peeps thought.

    1. Well I personally thought it was a bit of a crying shame the game died first time round, I really liked it. The miniatures were fabulous on the whole and right up until the 4th edition of the rules I thought it was a great product line, with a solid game attached. So I'm cautiously optimistic about seeing it return. But, as always with these things I'll wait and see what happens before I roll out the red carpet and welcome it back with open arms.

  6. I'm still managing to hold out on your review before buying (or not) Deep Jungle and/or the Amazon starter! Go restraint!

    1. Alas, your bank balance will hate me then. I think Deeo Jungle is a really good expansion well handled, as it could have gone hideously wrong and off the rails. Plus I really like the Amazon starter set... I also hear whispers that the Cats also like them. You have been warned!!!

    1. Ant, can it be a Troll if it's on my Blog and it's true? :P

Honestly you know I'm just pulling people's legs. Having a bit of fun with a poster and indeed those who are constantly whinging about Space Puppies and Grey Knights. If you have something to say, as long as it's PC I'd honestly like to hear it. I just want to know what people think,

    *whew*
    ...busted a gut there.

    Genius.
You need to make this wallpaper sized.
    Do it now.
My cat demands it...it's not for me, you see.
Lord knows how I luvs da beakies.

    1. Sadly the quality and size of the original doesn't really lend itself to a 'wallpaper'. If somebody can find me an exceedingly hi resolution version of the original poster I swear on my honour as a Blogger... I will produce a version worthy of a wallpaper, so help me God!!! Honestly though, that was the highest resolution picture I could find and it's naff. lol. :P

But you never know, somebody might have the original file and be feeling mischievous.

  9. That's it - I am sick of these multi coloured mono-scheme pretenders to the Golden Throne I am making a Storm Lord list. Next week. Yes definitely. It will have red guns and assault troops with hand flamers and bolt guns and it will be GLORIOUS.

    1. Now that's the spirit!!! So will they count as Space Wolves or Grey Knights? :P

    2. Ouch, Frontline...that was a damn fine joke.
In the Bronx, we call that a 'burn.'

    3. LOL no they will count as Ultramarines. And probably find a featureless planet somewhere and park their gunship an unreasonable distance away forcing themselves to walk into an ambush...

      STORM LORDS

      Its totally on now.

  10. Awesome rendition of a classic poster. :)
What is the central Marine on both versions?
I think you may be missing a few extra 'counts as' Salamanders and the Imperial Fists that so many folk seem to torture themselves through painting (always highly battle damaged).

    1. The central marine is a chapter that has been 'purged' from records. Probably one of the many 'pink' marines you see young kids attempt when they first get into the hobby. lol. As for the missing fists etc. yeah I know but it was funnier this way. :P
